Sherborne RFC is a young, vibrant club, having only been established in 1980. Renowned as a friendly and hospitable club, Sherborne's emphasis on enjoyment, involvement and good sportsmanship is reflected in the youngest of our teams.

Today Sherborne Rugby Football Club has approaching 400 registered members and players. Some three quarters of whom are within the junior section. With such numbers of juniors coming through the system the future of the game in Sherborne looks very secure.

The strategy of the club is to foster family involvement. As a result of this clear focus, the playing base and membership has increased tremendously in recent years with the consequence that the club has outgrown its current limited facilities that is available to them from September until the following May. During this period junior and senior players, family members, coaches and numerous volunteers are involved in weekly fixtures, training and the running and development of the club. For the remainder of the year the club's administration is still held at the Club in partnership with the Tennis and Cricket Clubs, with training being organised in a variety of other local venues, including the Astroturf at Sherborne Boys School & Sherborne School for Girls.

To accommodate the Clubs growth and to secure its future, purpose made pitches and a dedicated training area have already been constructed and will be shortly ready to use. The next step is to build a new club house, incorporating substantially greater changing and support facilities to cope with the ever increasing numbers of teams, players and members.

Additionally Sherborne Rugby Football Club will be able to operate throughout the year to the benefit of the community in general and to rugby football in particular.
