Thursday December 3rd 2020 Update

Rugby training has resumed today for Seniors and some youth teams and will start again on Sunday for youth and juniors from 10.00 am.

The club house bar and kitchen servery remain closed but we hope to continue to provide hot drinks outside through an external operator for Sunday morning refreshment

The RFU have announced yesterday that the community game can now move to Tier E see link below and have communicated the following:

Clubs in all tiers can now advance to Stage E on the Return to Community Rugby Roadmap

There is no obligation for players and clubs to play 15-a-side adaptations. Clubs will still be able to play Ready4Rugby matches.

Adapted Stage E rules/laws for Age Grade Rugby have also been approved for U7-13 and U14-18.

The move to Stage E will allow the recommencing of Tag Rugby for U7s and U8s.

Stage E means that we can have Increased contact training and Contact fixtures under law variations permitted from 18th December 2020.

The Senior teams will commence training for the adapted game of rugby in the new year and then look at organising some local friendly fixtures in accordance with the new laws of the game.

The Youth teams are permitted to commence training for the adapted game at the next training session should they so choose and can also look to arrange local friendly fixtures in the New Year.

We wait for advice from the Town Council on their plans and timings to review the closure of changing rooms so at the moment we continue with everyone turns up “rugby ready .“

This is excellent news for the players and the game in general and will be a real boost to us in the New Year.

Many Thanks!
